
Connection Rio founder Dennis Asche is a lifelong martial artist who has followed his dreams and inspirations to the homeland of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Rio de Janeiro. Actively training martial arts since the age of seven, Dennis' path lead him to the Gordo Jiu-Jitsu academy. There in Rio he became the first foreigner to attain his black belt under innovator of the half guard, Roberto Correa de Lima.
Connection Rio came from a love for the
martial arts and desire to help those who are dedicated to the Art of
Jiu-Jitsu, interested in discovering and experiencing the culture of
Brazil find their way in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Having been down the path
personally and permanently moved to the country, experiencing the process
first hand, Dennis offers a unique point of view and genuine
interest in further developing the Arte Suave. As a Jiu-jitsu Professor martial arts practitioner and athlete, Dennis has
more than 20 years of martial arts experience and as a foreigner in Brazil
Dennis is fluent in Portuguese and has accumulated more than 6 years of
time in the country of Brazil, experiencing the culture first hand. Aside from
being the founder of Connection Rio, Dennis actively trains and
teaches at Gordo Jiu-Jitsu, where he can be found on the mats almost every day
of the week.
